Application prerequisites
- High school diploma
or a foreign equivalent certificate, recognized and accepted by the regulations of the Austrian education system.
For German speaking prospective students: Please see "Zugangsvoraussetzungen" on the German sites of the "Innovation and Management im Tourismus" degree programme.
- University entrance qualification (applicable for countries which require additional examination for unviersity entrance).
Important: If you have diplomas / documents regarding your Secondary Education which were not issued by Austrian authorities, we kindly ask you to check the following section: Legalisation. Requirements vary from country to country. Only documents which have the required legalization and are submitted in German or English (translated by court-approved translators) will be taken into consideration. Please note that legalizations are a vital part of the admission procedure.
Deposit on the tuition fee for interested students with previous education from a third-country
The FH Salzburg collects a deposit on the tuition fee from interested students with previous education from a third-country (all states except EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland). Prospective students who take up studies at the FH Salzburg will have the deposit credited to the tuition fee (tuition fee and student union fee/ÖH fee) for the first semester, otherwise the deposit will be refunded. All further regulations can be found in the Guideline for the deposit on the tuition fee.

- High school diploma - legalised and translated in accordance with our legalization and translation requirements (see info above)
- Letter of Motivation
- Passport copy
- CV
- English Language Certificate is not mandatory for the application, but at least B2 level is required for the understanding of the program (C1 level is recommended). Language proficiency will be evaluated during the admission interview and test.
All above-mentioned documents, including legalization and translation, have to be submitted with your online application by the respective application deadlines for EU or non-EU applicants. See Dates and Deadlines. Incomplete applications will not be considered and processed.
Admission test
All applicants from EU, Switzerland and Norway will have to attend the test in person on our campus.
Online tests only possible for applicants living outside of the European Union, Switzerland or Norway.
The admission test is a multiple-choice examination conducted completely in English. A short English essay is also required. The test will check your general knowledge in the fields of
- Business & Economics
- English proficiency
- Tourism
- Computers including internet usage, etc.
Personal interview or video
Applicants from EU, Switzerland or Norway are asked to personally come to our university to conduct an interview. Schedules will be sent by email in due time. See interview appointments under Dates and Deadlines. Admission test and personal interview take place on the same day.
Applicants outside EU, Switzerland or Norway are asked to upload a personal video to a given portal. Detailed instructions will be sent out in due time by email. See the deadline under Dates and Deadlines.
Announcement of the admission results
Admission results will be announced in July and August by email. Earlier admission is possible for exceptional cases.
Important note to applicants outside EU, Switzerland or Norway
Should you be admitted into our programme, it will be your own responsibility to obtain the necessary visa to study in Austria. We know from experience that this can be a very time-consuming procedure. Application deadline for applicants outside EU, Switzerland or Norway is 31st March.
Useful Information
- Scholarships: The Salzburg University of Applied Sciences does not offer scholarships to entry-level students.
- Lodging: On-campus housing is available but spots are limited in number and high in demand. For further information, contact www.housing.oead.ac.at

- Tuition fee: Euro 363.00 + ÖH fee Euro 24.70 per semester
- Excursions: Approx. Euro 500,00
