Eugenia Mariana Tudor from the Department of Design and Green Engineering (Wood Technology & Timber Construction/Economics) successfully defended her habilitation thesis on lignocellulosic materials at Transilvania University in Brasov, Romania, in April 2024. Eugenia Maria Tudor is a graduate of the Master's degree programme in Wood Technology and Timber Construction, completed her doctorate at the Technical University in Zvolen, Slovakia, and has been a lecturer at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences since 2014. She is particularly interested in biogenic materials.
Combining nature and technology was never a contradiction for FH-Prof.in DIin DIin Habil. Eugenia Mariana Tudor, PhD was never a contradiction, but a perfect combination. Her research focusses on the high-quality use of wood, wood waste and sustainable materials in the current context of eco-design and the circular economy. The title of her habilitation thesis is ‘Lignocellulosic materials characterisation, properties and applications’ in the field of forest engineering.
In spring 2024, the researcher was able to defend her habilitation thesis in front of an international commission at Transilvania University's Faculty of Furniture and Wood Engineering in her home town of Braşov. She has now received the habilitation certificate, which was issued by decree of the Romanian Minister of Education. The habilitation confers the right to independently supervise doctoral students and to apply for a university professorship and is an important milestone in an academic career.
First habilitated wood technology graduate
This ministerial decree means that the Kuchl Campus now has its first habilitated woman in the Department of Design & Green Engineering. Eugenia Mariana Tudor is also the first female graduate with a doctorate from the UAS degree programme in Wood Technology and Wood Economics.
