Nieke Dieteren, student of the master program "Innovation & Management in Tourism" convinced the jury at the annual Best Meeting Thesis Austria Award with her master thesis on the topic of Tranformative Event Design and took first place. The prize is awarded by the Austrian Convention Bureau in Vienna.
The Austrian Convention Bureau (ACB) is the umbrella organization of the Austrian convention and meeting industry. Its tasks include promoting young talent and research in the industry. The "Best Meeting Thesis Austria Award" invites students from all tourism-related universities and universities of applied sciences in the German-speaking region to submit bachelor's or master's theses on topics relevant to the meetings industry.
In a field of 10 participants (3 BA theses and 7 MA theses), IMT master's student Nieke Dieteren took first place. In her master thesis "Transformative Event Design: Exploring the Role of the Transformative Experience Facilitator" she focused on the role of transformative experience facilitators in special events. In her pitch last Tuesday at the Museumsquartier, she convinced the jury of the quality and relevance of her study of the MICE industry and gave a preview of how event design will be shaped by transformative experiences in the near future.
"I'm grateful that I could turn a topic I'm passionate about into a relevant reference for the events industry while writing my Master's thesis - the future is bright!", enthused Nieke after the award ceremony.
Congratulations to Nieke and Barbara Neuhofer, who supervised Nieke during her master's thesis process, for this success!
