At the end of October, the interdisciplinary Ethics & Sustainability symposium was held exclusively for Master's students at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences at the Urstein campus.
A particularly varied programme with a wide range of speakers awaited Master's students on Friday, 18 October and Saturday, 19 October at the 16th interdisciplinary Ethics & Sustainability Symposium. This year's symposium, which was attended by around 400 students, was entitled ‘Equality, Equity & Justice - How much equality is fair?’.
With the central topic of ‘Justice’, the 2024 symposium aimed to develop a deeper understanding of the complexity of issues of fairness in various dimensions, especially in the dimension of gender justice. Through a series of keynotes and interactive sessions, participants will be invited to critically scrutinise existing structures of institutional power and engage in constructive discussions about breaking down barriers.
Students on the Master's degree programmes Applied Image & Signal Processing, Design & Product Management, Wood Technology & Timber Construction, Smart Cities in Smart Buildings, Business Informatics, Business Administration, Innovation & Management in Tourism, Social Innovation, MultiMediaArt, MultiMediaTechonology, Realtime Art & Visual Effects and Human-Computer Interaction will gain an initial general overview of this topic at this symposium and then explore it in greater depth in exclusive workshops with supervisors.
The ‘Ethics & Sustainability’ format is an interdisciplinary symposium for students at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. The event, organised by the Rectorate and the degree programmes at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, has been taking place annually for 16 years. The aim is to facilitate an interdisciplinary exchange on social issues and to network students across departments and degree programmes.
