The Salzburg University of Applied Sciences is the 15th HEI to join the Alliance of Sustainable Universities (BNH). The alliance supports and networks universities in their commitment to sustainable development in all areas.
Sustainability is an important topic for the FH Salzburg. As multifaceted as the term is, so are the areas in which ecological, social and economic sustainability plays a role - be it in teaching, research, infrastructure, social and student engagement or in university operations. Joining the Alliance for Sustainable Universities (BNH) is a further step towards integrating sustainability even more strongly into all areas of university life.
FH Rector and Managing Director Dominik Engel: ‘As a university, we have a special social mission. We are committed to developing sustainable solutions and providing impetus. By participating in the Alliance for Sustainable Universities, we will work together to drive forward transformative changes that will not only make our campuses more sustainable, but also make a significant contribution to global sustainable development.’
Elisabeth Steiner, Chairwoman of the Alliance of Sustainable Universities, confirms: ‘With the accession of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences as the 15th member of the Alliance of Sustainable Universities, we are expanding our network with a very important partner in the Austrian higher education sector. The discussion of sustainability issues is not new to her, and we are building on a high level of expertise in the implementation of the joint objectives of the BNH, such as cooperation, exchange, creation and use of synergies, joint positioning and reflected discussion of the dimensions of sustainability. We are delighted that we have been able to gain the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences as a member.’
Networking and sharing ideas
The membership of the Alliance of Sustainable Universities makes it possible to benefit from a broad network of knowledge and best practices. Daniela Molzbichler, Sustainability Coordinator at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, is delighted about the cooperation in the alliance and the diverse opportunities: ‘I very much welcome joining the Alliance of Sustainable Universities (BNH). This membership represents a significant step, as we can now contribute our expertise in the field of sustainability to another broad network. Joining enables us to engage in valuable collaborations and an intensive exchange with other universities, allowing us to utilise synergies and further develop solutions. In particular, this collaboration will significantly strengthen our joint positioning and the reflected examination of the various dimensions of sustainability.’
