Salzburg University of Applied Sciences celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025 and looks back on three decades of practical higher education, applied research and international networking. A public exhibition specially designed for the occasion - a ‘digital journey through time’ - takes interested visitors to the Urstein campus through the 30 years.

Numerous events are planned to mark the anniversary year, including the specially designed exhibition - a ‘digital journey through time’, which can be seen at the Urstein campus from 20 March to 4 July 2025. ‘The central element of the exhibition is stories and anecdotes from students, graduates, employees and companions, who will bring personal highlights from three decades of FH Salzburg to life in 2-minute videos,’ explains Rector Dominik Engel.
Digital journey through time honours 30th anniversary
The exhibition is more than just a look back - it is an active journey through time, where visitors can use a ‘time slider’ to decide for themselves which year and which degree programme at the UAS they would like to immerse themselves in. This brings the history and development of the UAS to life. ‘With the digital journey through time, we have created a chronicle that highlights significant moments and projects. The people who have shaped the UAS and have travelled a part of its path ‘with it’ tell their personal anecdotes, memories and stories,’ adds exhibition curator Thomas Hitthaler. A total of over 80 videos have been recorded so far—filmed and edited by a team of FH students led by Evelin Schnöll, Christopher Raschke, Dorothée Sachsenhofer, and Olga Vogg.
Continuing to write the FH story
Since its foundation in 1995, Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (SUAS) has developed into one of Austria's leading universities, combining practical training with academic research. With around 3,400 students on 33 degree programmes, the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences today offers a diverse range of educational opportunities in the fields of business, IT, tourism, technology, design, media, health sciences and social sciences. The university continues to set new standards, particularly in the areas of digitalisation, sustainability and research.
‘Over the past 30 years, we have continuously developed and are proud to offer our students a future-oriented education that prepares them optimally for the challenges of the working world,’ says Dominik Engel, Rector of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences.
Anyone who has a story to tell about the FH Salzburg can also record a video in a specially created ‘room’ on site.
Visit the ‘Digital Time Travel’ at the Open House
An ideal opportunity to visit the new exhibition at the SUAS is the Open House on Saturday, 22 March 2025. At the Open House, there will also be a varied programme - both at the Urstein and Kuchl campuses - for visitors and prospective students: From taster lectures to personal counselling sessions and guided tours.
The ‘Digital Time Travel’ exhibition is open to the public at the Urstein Campus from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the beginning of July. The exhibition room is located in the foyer to the left of the main entrance (simply follow the signs).
