Practical project with Lidl Österreich

As part of the Practical Project course in the Bachelor's degree programme in Business Administration, students work on a project for and with companies in small groups every semester.

Offering customers fresh and more sustainable products every day is a major concern for Lidl Austria. Finding the optimum balance between sustainability, quality and costs for food packaging is extremely important in order to avoid wasting food and resources.

For this reason, in the winter semester of 2021/22, six students of the Business Administration degree programme intensively studied recycled content, recyclability and renewable raw materials. During the course of the project, packaging from competitors was analysed, discussions were held with Lidl suppliers and experts' opinions were obtained.

The result: a simple evaluation scheme for sustainable packaging including a traffic light system. The result presented, including recommendations for action, is quite clear: a success story.
