On 14 November 2024, the Contacta careers fair took place at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences - for the 20th time. The Urstein campus was once again the meeting place for 60 companies from various sectors and hundreds of students.
The Salzburg University of Applied Sciences is known for its close links with the business world and the practical relevance of its programmes. Contacta, originally launched as a practical project for the Business Administration degree programme, has become an integral part of the university year. The careers fair offers students the opportunity to make direct contact with potential employers. In addition to internships and career opportunities, topics for Bachelor's and Master's theses are also presented.
20 years of networking for Salzburg's talents
In 2006, the FH's own careers fair was launched as part of a project on the Business Administration course and organised by students over the following years. The number of exhibitors grew continuously and the event continued to develop. From 2015, the Career Center at FH Salzburg took over the organisation. ‘For many students, Contacta has laid the foundation for starting their careers,’ says organiser Ingrid Langthaler.
In total, more than 180 different companies have been present at the past 20 fairs, with around 10,000 students taking part over the years. Numerous exhibitors have participated year after year, which confirms the special quality of the job fair. Langthaler: ‘The idea and aim of the job fair was and is to network students and companies, promote dialogue and establish contacts. This remains our aim and we look forward to many more years of Contacta.’
"Homecoming" of the FH Alumni
The careers fair is also an annual meeting point for many SUAS graduates who return to their ‘alma mater’ as part of their work activities with their companies or as company founders.
Contacta is therefore not only a platform for networking between students and companies, but also between graduates and future colleagues. And it is also an ideal opportunity for the SUAS, teaching staff and employees to stay in touch with alumni.
Get-together for the anniversary edition
Following Contacta 2024, initiators, students, companions and company partners celebrated the anniversary edition of the career fair in a cosy setting. Also present were the initiators and graduates who organised Contacta in 2004 and 2014.
